The Young Visionaries
Business Intelligence Training in Cape Town is a social training program run by 29FORWARD that has been helping young people in South Africa to start a career in data science, data analysis and software development since 2018. Under the name Young Visionaries, the program offers hands-on IT training for school leavers without access to higher education with real future potential.
Business intelligence training as a career opportunity without a degree
The program is aimed at school graduates who were unable to attend university due to financial or social barriers. In an intensive 12-month program, participants learn practical programming languages such as SQL, .NET and SAS with the aim of obtaining the SAS Foundation certification. This is the first step towards a sustainable career in business intelligence.
From business intelligence training to a career as a data scientist
After successful certification, participants are employed by 29FORWARD South Africa. This is followed by a 24-month phase of intensive further training in SAS programming, consulting skills and practical project work. This creates the basis for further development as a SAS Senior Developer, SAS Architect or Data Scientist with an international perspective.
Aim of the Business Intelligence training: Future through technology
Our goal is to offer young talents real prospects for the future through our business intelligence training in South Africa. We focus on continuous skills development, experience-based learning and international cooperation with other 29FORWARD locations.
What began in 2018 with just four participants has developed into a growing movement. We have successfully achieved our goal of continuously increasing the number of Young Visionaries.
Success stories from Cape Town
Among the first graduates of the program were Okuhle Salmani, Sive Branti, Reece Williams and Didie Muyco. Today, they work as SAS developers and platform admins. They were followed by many other motivated young talents. 29FORWARD supports them with internal training, workshops and mentoring from international experts.
In February 2020, Thando Sampu, Kamohelo Mohotsi, Gudu Mnyakeni and Asavela Figlan joined the team – also as Junior SAS Developers and Platform Administrators.
